1. The provision of Centre programs and services utilize
multidisciplinary and cross-sectoral approaches.
Preparation and coordination of annual "National Injury
Prevention Days"
Coordination of the Czech intersectoral working group focused
on injury prevention and safety promotion
Coordination of the Safe Community program in the Czech Republic
Collaboration with different agencies and NGOs e.g.: the Czech
Trade Inspection on the playground safety improvement; the
Czech Consumer Safety Association; Czech Red Cross (drowning
prevention) etc.
2. The Centre provides a framework for promoting collective
action, which includes involvement with community networks.
Established effective collaboration with Healthy Cities network
- attending their conferences and coordination meetings with
the goal of promoting Safe Community program
Assistance in all stages of establishing and designation of
Safe Community program in Kromerí
Assistance in establishing Safe Community programs in other
cities: Krnov, Ceské Budejovice, Litomerice etc.
3. The Centre provides consultative support to communities
in the establishment of Safe Community initiatives.
Preparing, printing and distributing the information brochure
about WHO Safe Community Program in Czech language
Assistance in all stages of establishing and designation of
Safe Community program in Kromerí
Assistance in establishing Safe Community programs in other
cities: Krnov, Ceské Budejovice, Litomerice etc.
Active involvement in the preparation of Safe Schools projects.
4. The Centre facilitates and supports community-based
strategic planning processes
Assistance in coordination meetings, e.g. in cross-sectoral
working groups in Kromerí
Active participation in the seminars organized by Healthy
Cities Network, Healthy Schools Network and meetings at Ministry
of Health
Active involvement in preparation of the Czech version Health
for All in 21 century; integrating the Safe Community approach
into strategic plan, which was approved by the Czech government
in 2002.
5. The Centre demonstrates leadership and stewardship in
addressing priority injury issues, high risk, and vulnerable
groups.

Intervention study about bicycle helmet usage - Kromerí,
Litomerice
Childhood traumacenter based injury data collection
Playground injuries
Drowning injuries
Providing the courses for different audience about injuries
in childhood and elderly.
6. The Centre provides expert services and knowledge in
the area of injury data and injury surveillance issues.

7. The Centre demonstrates a long-term commitment to supporting
Safe Communities and the Safe Community Network within their
organizations strategic plan.
Participation in European Safe Community Network
Promotion of Safe Community efforts and assistance in the
neighbouring countries, e.g. Slovak Republic, Poland
Establishing the National coordination focal point for Safe
Communities at the Center - coordinator: dr. Petr Nencka
Active media involvement - TVs, radio, press releases etc.
8. The Centre supports those responsible at the community
level to utilize appropriate indicators to evaluate community
processes, effects of change and injury rates.
