•  Establish the neighborhood drinking accountability team to promote alcohol abstinence and DUI prevention programs.

•  Advocate for the “Pedestrian safety program for children and seniors” by encouraging them to dress in bright colors, and wear reflective accessories when walking.

In elementary schools:

•  Hold series of safety education programs.

•  Improve on the lighting in staircases and ensure emptying of hallways.

•  Install padding on sharp building corners.

•  Mobilize PTAs, teachers and students to remove decaying and treacherous playing facilities.

•  Place clear signs of existing vegetation, to allow students to discern between poisonous and harmless plants.

•  Establish standard procedure for when injuries occur, and post the procedure at school health centers.

•  Present school children helmets to wear when parents give them ride to school

In junior high schools:

•  Seek subsidies from Taipei Heping Rotary Club to fund school facility renewal projects, and installment of handrails and other anti-slippery devices.

•  Collaborate with township office, health clinic, police department and schools to prevent bullying.

•  Work with the Council of Indigenous Peoples on its “Alcohol Abstinence program”. Provide counseling to families with drinking problems, and assist in reducing middle school drinking habits.

•  Strengthen understanding of the influence of alcohol among parents and school fellows to enable better self-management.

•  Put together pamphlets demonstrating appropriate hot spring and handing them out to patrons.

•  Conduct annual first aid drills for local hotel managements, and ensure all spas have qualified lifeguards on 24-hour patrols.

•  “Gentle warning, heart warming” initiative: remind hot spring patrons to beware of excessive immersion in spas.

•  Inspect for hazardous waters, and set up life saving devices and warning signs.

•  Collaborate with local residents, neighborhood watch, and volunteer patrol teams to keep tourists from entering hazardous waters. Conduct periodic first aid training sessions, and train the members of the unit in becoming future CPR instructors.

•  Work with the township office, health clinic, and fire squad to a ssist bed and breakfast owners to improve their fire fighting measures.

•  Work with the township office, health clinic, the district construction section, the police and fire department, Taipower, and the association of community development to conduct annual landslide preparedness drills.

•  Once the Central Weather Bureau has issued typhoon or heavy rain warnings, immediately activate the disaster response mechanism. The procedure entails: warning tourists not to enter into the mountains and waters; assist residents to secure locations; and prepare necessary medical supplies for the sick and the pregnant women.
