The programme covers the following safety promotion activities:
For the age group
Children 0-14 years:
Children's contribution in culture making programs promotion Safe Community
In examining the statistics of accidents (injured people) in the township, the incidence of burn, downfall, trauma and traffic accidents in this age group was prevalent so the following measures were taken.
1. Blending the educational programs of the principles of safety in the program of taking care of under 6-year – old children and educating mothers by health & centers.
2. Instructing the educators of kindergartens and primary schools for transmitting the education to children.
3. Using students in the program of school’s police and police assistant.
4. The presence of police and workers of health & care centers in schools for implementing the educational programs.
5. Holding painting competitions and article writing among the students of the field of preventing traffic accidents.
Youth 15-24 years:
About 48% of motorcycle accidents belong to this age group. Also, other traffic accidents, violence and suicide, downfall and trauma relating to different occupations are prevalent in this age group, so the following measures were taken:
1. Holding educational programs in order to prevent traffic accidents through holding safe motorcycle riders class- maneuver and safety exhibitions.
2. Consulting the endangered groups on the field of suicide and violence-prevention.
3. Enhancing the use of regulations in order to prevent traffic accidents by the police.
4. Holding educational courses for 20-24 years working in stonecutting firms and using personal protective devices.
Age group 25 to 64:
In this age group Traffic accidents and trauma in workplaces are more prevalent.
1. Presenting educational programs of preventing traffic accidents by holding educational courses, delivering pamphlets and installing panels in passages and holding safety exhibitions.
2. Educating workers of different occupations about the accidents of their workplace
3. Pursuing the use of self- protection means by the workers of different occupations with the cooperation of the labor and social affairs office and occupational health.
Elderly 65+ years:
In this age group, being overthrown and traffic accidents like collision with automobiles and motorcycles are prevalent.
1. Blending the education of safety principles in the program of taking care of the elderly in health& cure centers.
2. Educating their families about safety issues of the elderly people.
3. Promoting the safety of homes for preventing accidents like down falling.
At the following environments:
Home:
1. Determining the status of homes’ safety through the safety check list and annual visits of safety status by nurses.
2. Presenting the results of the initial visit in the safe community committee in different parts including electrical outlets & switches (62%) heating devices and lighting (64%), stairs & ladders (75%), Fences (63%) homes & kitchens (62%), and poisons & had 65 percent safety in the primary survey.
3. Planning the intervening program on the basis of the results of initial visit with the cooperation of the members of safe community committee.
4. Face to face education during the visit by nurses in order to promote the safety of homes.
5. Reassessing different parts of homes in the annual survey of safety status.
6. Holding educational classes on the field of promoting the safety of homes for mothers and housekeepers.
7. Applying interventions jointly with different organizations including supervision on house building and reforming old houses.
8. By using intervening actions the status of safety in homes has been promoting from 66% to 87.5%
Traffic Roads:
Dangerous peddle canal in the middle of the alley
1. Identifying the status of safety and determining hazardous spots of urban & suburban passages by the safe community committee.
2.Specifying the priorities in order to apply interventions by the Safe Community committee.
The most important actions that have been taken in order to promote the safety of traffic passages are as follows:
- Reforming 30 hazardous urban passages and 26 suburban ones.
- Installing 5400 traffic signs; Installing 75 Traffic lights; Drawing lines for 750 km of passages.
- Covering the asphalt of 320 km of suburban and 54 km of urban passages.
- Installing speed breakers in hazardous spots in urban passages 400 meters long and overlaying uncovered canals in Neyriz inter- city passages about 3 kilometers long.
- Organizing taxi driving and creating taxi driving special station in order to organize the traffic.
- Establishing a terminal out of the city in order to lessen the inner-city accidents and traffic.
- By assessing these action, till now 65% of urban hazardous spots and 52.9% of suburban hazardous ones are reformed.
Recreational places and parks:
Examining the status of safety in recreational places by the safe community committee jointly with the municipality.
Compiling an operation programs in order to promote the safety of recreational places. Some of the actions being taken till now are as follows:
- Providing light for populated spots of the parks.
- Flooring the playgrounds with mosaic and sand in parks.
- Installing free telephones in parks to be used for informing in emergency cases.
- Examining electricity extension lines and other measures are in the process of action.
Occupational:
Convening Protection & safety committees in working places having more than 25 workers and presenting the report of their performance.
Convening specialty committee of preventing the accidents of workplace in the city with the presence of the representatives from governorship, social security, labor & social affairs, health centre and other NGOS.
- Controlling the newly built working Places and surveying the building plans in order to extend and adjust the plans with safety measures and regulations.
- Convening Protection & safety committees in working places having more than 25 workers and presenting the report of their performance.
- Periodical visits to working places and presenting strategies in order to remove deficiencies.
- Identifying & recognition of personal protective equipments adapted and proportionate to the situation of each working environment.
- Presenting educational programs for employers and workers
Pursuing the preparation of first aid kits, fire extinguishers and personal protection tools for the workers working in factories.
Schools:
Surveying the status of safety in school in different parts including:
- The presence of fire extinguisher, first aid kit, fence, heating & cooling devices drawing traffic lines in front of the schools, traffic signs and etc.
- Compiling an operation program by the safe community committee with the cooperation of Education & training organization for promoting the safety of schools.
Some of the measures taken by now include:
- Equipping 100% the schools with fire extinguishers, first aid kits, stairs fence, and drawing traffic lines in front of schools and equipping 96% of the schools with standard heating systems.
- Educating school administrators and janitors about the way of using fire extinguishers.
Sport Clubs:
There are 13 sports halls, 2 grass soccer fields, 25 soiled fields, baths, and 30 athletic boards in Neyriz.
By surveying the status of safety in sports places by the town’s physical education organization and presenting the results in the committee some of the measures taken till now are as follows:
- Equipping the sports halls with first aid devices.
- Equipping the grass soccer fields with stretchers and first aid devices.
- Equipping the baths with exam bed, oxygen capsule, first aid devices and permanent presence of lifeguards during using the pools.
- Other activities regarding the safety of soiled fields and sports places are in the process of action.
Leisure:
Examining the status of safety in recreational places by the safe community committee jointly with the municipality.
Compiling an operation programs in order to promote the safety of recreational places. Some of the actions being taken till now are as follows:

Violence Prevention:
Identifying the endangered sex – age groups which are mostly seen in the group of 15-24 years.
Compiling an operating program for decreasing violence jointly with the members of the Safe Community committee.
In the operating program following activities are in the process of action:
- Educating families and schools authorities.
- Establishing the consulting department in universities & high schools in order to identify endangered people.
- Establishing the mental health consulting centre with the presence of mental health expert.
- Monitoring and assessing activities to be done in future.
Suicide Prevention:
In examining the statistics of accidents and injured people in the town, suicide has allocated 3% of the whole injured people to itself.
The age group of 15-24 years has the highest rate of suicide.
In the initial surveys of the people, following risk factors were seen:
- Mental disease & depression
- Family precedence
- Unemployment and financial & economical failures and other cases
- The number of singles was twice that of the married people who had committed suicide
- Having no aims for future. In surveying the statistics on suicide, 58% of women and 42% of men commit suicide.
The method of committing suicide, 89.5% by taking pills and 10.5% by other means.
Just 1% were succeeded in their suicide and 99% failed to do so. By recognizing age groups and the causes of committing suicides by the Safe Community committee, its operating program has been compiled in order to decrease it.
Activities that are in the process of action include.
- Forming the suicide-prevention committee: with the presence of psychology and mental health expert, administration of justice, police, Welfare organization, hospital, governor’s office and other institutions.
- Intervention before the crisis and committing suicide which includes educating families, and identifying endangered people exposed to danger and referring them to consulting centers.
- Intervention after the crisis in order to prevent repeated action through therapy & consulting.
- Establishing mental health consulting centre
Programs aiming at “High risk – groups”:

Assessing the under control spots of the township considering the incidence of disasters. Forming the committee of prevention and decreasing the impact of unexpected accidents and medical emergencies for saving the injured people during the incidence of disasters.
- Forming 3 active health & cure teams to be present in damaged spots.
- Holding fairs on the occasion of decreasing the effects of Natural disasters’ week.
- Holding fairs on the occasion of deceasing the impacts of natural disasters’ week.
- Participation of teams of unexpected accidents in imaginary maneuvers such as earthquake and other disasters for preparation.
- Dispatching teams to damaged areas by earthquake & flood throughout the country in order to help the injured people.
