Indicators for International Safe Communities

 

Safe Communities have: pdf

  1. An infrastructure based on partnership and collaborations, governed by a cross- sectional group that is responsible for safety promotion in their community;
  2. Long-term, sustainable programs covering both genders and all ages, environments, and situations;
  3. Programs that target high-risk groups and environments, and programs that promote safety for vulnerable groups;
  4. Programs that document the frequency and causes of injuries;
  5. Evaluation measures to assess their programs, processes and the effects of change;
  6. Ongoing participation in national and international Safe Communities networks.

The following "6 Indicators" are replacing the "12 Criteria", which were developed 1989 by. Jerry Moller, Principle Consultant, Australia in collaboration with the participants from the “First Travelling Seminar on Safe Communities “ and representatives form the two municipalities Falköping and Lidköping, Sweden.

Las Comunidades Seguras deben tener:

  1. Una infraestructura basada en alianzas de confianza y colaboración, gobernada por un grupo transectorial responsable de la promoción de la seguridad de su comunidad.
  2. Programas sostenibles a largo plazo con cobertura de ambos géneros, todas las edades, ambientes, y situaciones específicas.
  3. Programas focalizados a grupos y ambientes de alto riesgo, y programas que promuevan la seguridad de los grupos vulnerables.
  4. Programas que documenten la frecuencia y las causas de lesiones.
  5. Medidas para evaluar los programas, procesos, y el efecto del cambio.
  6. Participación activa en Redes nacionales e internacionales de Comunidades Seguras.
